Para-shuttler Bhagat scripts history with WC double

Odisha para-badminton icon Pramod Bhagat scriptded history by clinching double crown in the BWF World Para-Badminton Championships, held in Basel, Switzerland from 20 to 25 August, 2019. He first won the mens SL 3-4 doubles gold with partner Manoj Sarkar yesterday and then added the SL 3 singles yellow metal, defeating doubles partner Sarkar today.

This was the fourth gold medal and sixth overall BWF World Para-Badminton Championships medal for polio-striken Bhagat, who, earlier won doubles gold in 2013, singles gold, doubles silver in 2015 and singles bronze in 2017.

This has been a phenomenal year for SL 3 World No 1 Bhagat, fetching him 10 gold, two silver and two bronze medals in international competitions so far. Besides, he has been nominated for the prestigious Arjuna Award, which would be conferred on August 29, on the occasion of National Sports Day.
